When Josh heard rock for the first time, he was instantly addicted. With that being said, the only thing Josh is equally addicted to is performing on stage. His influences don't stop there. He's heavily influenced by pop, dance, techno, grunge and blues as well. Starting his musical career in 2003, Josh has; been in multiple bands, performed at halls, bars, battle of the bands, telethons, charity events, weddings, schools, busking events, karaoke events, parties, bonfires, performed in -35 conditions, under the beaming hot sun in fields, thunder storms, opened festivals for signed bands, closed shows for other indie artists, took part in photo shoots, interviews, graduated from broadcasting-radio, performed in many plays, recorded numerous albums, EPs, singles, tributes, his music has made it on many radio stations on-air and online and he's put out multiple music videos. He joined and formed many bands throughout high school and college. Those bands played many shows and recorded albums and EPs. He started teaching himself different instruments while perfecting his voice through his musical inspirations. In 2010, Josh formed his first Josh Dimmel Band and has since been pushing his band, he's been pushing his solo project since 2005 and over all been performing and writing since 2003. Over all he's performed 670 live shows since 2003.

 

 

Josh recorded and produced sixteen of his own albums; “The Never Ending Street”, “Love, Kisses And Heartache”, “This Nightmare”, Staring At The Night”, “Hard To Find (Josh With Guests)”, “Blister”, “Waves From Home”, “A New Beginning”, “Wrong Turn”, “Ten”, “The Cabin”, "It's The End", "Ammunition", "Out Of My Hands", "Dream In Colour" and "The Other Side". He recorded his singles "Marten River (Red Cedar)", "Wish Upon A Star (Olivia)", "A Strong Northern Girl", "Battlefield" and "Mistake". "Marten River (Red Cedar)" is about Red Cedar Lake Camp in Marten River Ontario and Marten River Ontario itself and has been published on Red Cedar Lake Camp's home page on their official website. "Wish Upon A Star (Olivia)" is about Josh's daughter. "A Strong Northern Girl" is about his wife and family. "Battlefield" is about the Canadian Armed Forces and Josh added photos of his Grandpa William St. Amour when he was in the military and wars. He recorded his tribute singles “Sunday Morning” a Maroon 5 cover, “Knocking on Heaven's Door” a Bob Dylan and Guns N' Roses cover and "Mr. Sandman" The Chordettes cover. He also recorded his covers album "Covers From The Soul Volume 02". In 2010, Josh was asked to record his song “Save Me” with Ben Legget for the Brood Records “Apples, Zink and the Everything Kitchen Sink” compilation album. That led to Josh signing with Stage 9 Records for two years. That same year, Stage 9 Records recorded a four track self titled EP entitled "Stage 9 Records". Josh wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies and performed the vocals on the EP. It was recorded by Jonny Parolin, mixed by Ben Legget and mastered by Wave Asylum based out of Ottawa Ontario. A couple months later, Stage 9 Records funded Josh's album “The Never Ending Street (Official)” that was recorded and mixed by Ben Legget. In 2014, Josh recorded “Paranoid Reality” in James Adams studio. James mixed the album, Travis Tiernay shot the album art and edited the art into templates and then it was sent to Indie Pool in Toronto Ontario for printing. He released a single entitled “The Girl (Extro)” a couple months later also mixed by James Adams. Josh and James continued to work together on recordings. At the end of 2014, Josh released a live off the floor version of “Freddy!” and a tracked studio version of it from James' studio. “Freddy!” is Josh's tribute to A Nightmare On Elm Street. In 2015, Josh went back to James' studio to record his four track EP entitled “Open Your Eyes”. Shortly after that year, he recorded a live off the floor Christmas EP in James' studio entitled “Christmas With Josh Dimmel Volume 01” and he recorded a live off the floor EP in James' studio entitled “Covers From The Soul Volume 01”. In 2017, he went back to James' studio and recorded his single “It's Okay”. Throughout the process of recording music, Josh also had numerous music videos released. Travis Tiernay filmed and edited the music videos for; “Photograph”, “I Could Never Change”, “Freddy!” and “Out Of Here”. Bob Moore filmed and edited the music videos for; “Sound Of A Pin Drop” and “It's Okay”. And Josh filmed and edited the music videos for; “Drive”, “Friends Until The End”, “Lowest Common Denominator”, “A New Beginning”, "Field Of Weeds", "Followed Me Home", "Borrowed Time", "Play With Ice", "Burning Sun", "It's The End", "Marten River (Red Cedar)", "Red River", "Wish Upon A Star (Olivia)" and "A Strong Northern Girl". Josh's songs have also made it on radio stations such as; 101.9 Rock, The Fox, The Moose, World Stage Music, Hunters' Bay Radio, The Balcony and many more.

 

 

In 2011, Josh was asked to be a judge for a karaoke contest in Hanmer Ontario at Cousin Vinny's Restaurant and Bar. He drove back and fourth once, sometimes twice a week from North Bay Ontario to Hanmer Ontario. In the finals, Zack Werner from Canadian Idol joined Josh on the panel of judges. The next night Josh Dimmel Band opened for Zack's band “Mystic Kick”. The following year, Josh tried out for Canadas Got Talent in Toronto Ontario. In 2015, Josh opened the Coleman Turtle Music Festival in Parry Sound Ontario that had headliner I Mother Earth. In 2019, Josh performed at the Powassan Maple Syrup Festival on the stage in the morning and then was asked to do a busking show in the afternoon in front of the Powassan Sportsplex both in Powassan Ontario. Also in 2019, Josh performed at the Powassan Sportsplex Beerfest 2019 in Powassan Ontario. In 2019, Josh also performed at the 2019 Summer Solstice Festival in Field Ontario. For Canada Day 2019, Josh performed for the City of North Bay on The Fire Works Stage for The North Bay Canada Day Festival 2019 playing before and after the city fire works in North Bay Ontario. In 2019, Josh performed at the 2019 International Plowing Match in Verner Ontario. He performed on the Wednesday for an hour show and then again on the Thursday for a two and a half hour show during their happy hour. The festival had headliners such as Larry Berrio, Manny Blu, David Boyd Janes, Crystal Shawanda and it had the Canadian Cowgirls and Canadian Television Star Amber Marshall from the Television Show Heartland. In 2019, Josh performed at The North Bay Santa Claus Parade 2019 on the North Bay Farmers' Market Float. The parade was filmed on YourTV Cogeco. In 2016, Josh Dimmel Band performed at the Northland Wrestling Miller Memorial Cup 2016 in North Bay Ontario. During a match, Josh got involved and split up a vicious attack from Bobby Sharp to Carter Mason and ended up receiving a Michinoku Driver from Bobby. In 2010 he graduated Broadcasting-Radio at Canadore College. In 2017, he was a background character on the CTV show “Cardinal”. He was involved in drama club in high school and took part in many plays. In 2018, Josh's song "Sound Of A Pin Drop" won a Academia Award for best Alternative Rock Song. He also had some one on one wrestling training from Dann "Jarris" Pigozzo, took part in the Northland Wrestling crash course and worked the sound system and ring bell for Northland Wrestling's Conquest 2017 and Northland Wrestling's Mayhem 2017. All three shows were filmed for television on Cogeco. Josh has taught guitar lessons privately and for Guitars 4 Vets Canada teaching military veterans how to play. On New Year's Eve 2017, he performed for the night at Markstay Tavern for their New Year's Eve Bash in Markstay Ontario. On Halloween Night 2018, he performed for the night and DJed at Highlander Brew Co for their Halloween Costume Party in South River Ontario. Josh performed at TD Bank for the 2013 Christmas Walk and at Cecil's Brewhouse & Kitchen for the 2018 Christmas Walk both in North Bay Ontario. Josh performed at Valley East Days 2011 and 2012 in Hanmer Ontario. Josh performed at Fall Fair 2015 and 2016 in Bonfield Ontario. Josh performed at Pick Of The Patch 2015 at Boreal Winery in Saint-Charles Ontario. Josh performed at the Locks Taper Scissors Grand Opening in 2015 in North Bay Ontario. Josh came fourth at the Acoustic Challenge 2011 at Canadore College in North Bay Ontario. In 2019, he performed his one hour show for the National Grand Slam Of Curling Championships 2019 at The Social House Granite Club in North Bay Ontario. In 2019, he performed at the Mothers Day Let's Remember Adam Winter's Market at Elks Lodge in North Bay Ontario. In 2019, he performed at the Me Time Let's Remember Adam Winter's Market at Elks Lodge in North Bay Ontario. In 2019, he performed at the Christmas Let's Remember Adam Winter's Market at Elks Lodge in North Bay Ontario. In 2019, Josh performed at the North Bay PRIDE Pasta Fundraiser Hosted by The Noble Steed at The Summit in North Bay Ontario. Josh performed at Telethons solo in North Bay Ontario, Sturgeon Falls Ontario, Azilda Ontario and Temiscaming Quebec. Josh performed in Toronto Ontario venues; Free Times Cafe and Imperial Pub, he performed in Sudbury Ontario venues; The Towne House and Coulson Night Club, he performed at The Ranch in Barrie Ontario, he performed at Taps On Queen in Niagara Falls Ontario and he played numerous other venues in those cities and other cities and towns in Ontario. Josh's poetry and writing has also been published and mentioned in books. Two poems and lyrics worth highlighting are "Erin" and "Kills To Breathe" about his wife, Erin. In 2014, Josh started hosting a series called "Rock Night At Twiggs" every second Tuesday at Twiggs in Sturgeon Falls Ontario. A few months later, Shawn Blais joined Josh and co-hosted the events at Twiggs and decided it would be a good idea to host them on Saturday's and they were renamed to "Twiggs Live Music Saturday's". Josh and Shawn co-hosted these events for a few months. Eventually Josh started hosting "Tuesday Music Show Case At Shooters" every Tuesday at Shooters Bar in The Voyager Inn in North Bay Ontario and Shawn continued with the Twiggs music nights. Josh continued the "Tuesday Music Show Case At Shooters" series for two years. Then he hosted "Acoustic Night At The Fraser" at The Fraser Tavern in North Bay Ontario for one Tuesday and then Josh and The Fraser Tavern decided to move it to Friday nights. That continued on for a few months.

 

 

Josh Dimmel Band has performed a variety of events, stag and does, competitions, bars, telethons and festivals. They made it into the finals at the Search For A Star 2012 music competition first winning an online contest and then performing at the North-Gate Mall in North Bay Ontario. They placed fourth overall out of all the bands and artists. They performed at the Karaoke Contest Finals 2011 in Hanmer Ontario opening for Zack Werner's Band "Mystic Kick", performed at The Voyager Inn's Ribfest 2015, 2016, O'Ribfest 2017, 2018 and 2019 in North Bay Ontario, they performed at the Christmas Dinner 2015 and 2017 at Cousin Vinny's Restaurant and Bar opening up for Toe Jam Tequila in Hanmer Ontario, they performed at Summer in the Park 2016 in North Bay Ontario that had headliners; Kiefer Sutherland, Tim Hicks, Hedley, Coleman Hell and Michael White and the Whites, they performed at the Northland Wrestling Miller Memorial Cup 2016 in North Bay Ontario, they performed at Feast Fest 2017 in Sudbury Ontario that had headliners; Jojo Mason and Honeymoon Suite, they performed at the Canada Day Celebrations 2018 at the waterfront in North Bay Ontario opening for Green River Revival CCR Tribute Band, they performed at Bay Days Festival 2019 in North Bay Ontario, they performed a full night for the O'Canada 150 Callander Yacht Club Boat Races, they performed a full night for the Moon Light Madness at Rockwell Music and Pawn Shop in North Bay Ontario, they closed a show for the Fundraiser for PADDLE Program at Highball Billiards and Bar that had more than ten acts including but not limited to Marc Arcand from High Holy Days and Peter Cliche in North Bay Ontario, they were the house band and house group for the 2018 CTV Cogeco Lion's Children's Christmas Telethon in North Bay Ontario and played numerous other telethons in North Bay Ontario and many more events and bars in and around North Bay, Sturgeon Falls, South River, Callander, Lavigne, Corbeil, Renfrew, Sudbury and Hanmer Ontario.
